After Care Advice

Aftercare Advice
It is important to follow these after-care tips to ensure your hair extensions stay in good condition, and to prevent damage to the extensions and the natural hair.

Product use
Do not use any products containing parabens, sodium laureth sulfate,
sodium lauryl sulfate or those with a high alcohol content such as alcohol
denat, ethanol SD, alcohol 40, propanol, isopropyl and propyl.
Do not use any products containing hydrolysed vegetable protein,
hydrolysed wheat protein, biotin or keratin. These ingredients will cause
hair extensions to turn extremely dry, knotty and unmanageable.

Washing your hair extensions
Brush your hair before washing to ensure it is tangle free. Always wash
your hair in the shower. Never in the bath as this will knot the extensions.
Dampen your hair and apply shampoo. Massage your scalp in-between
the extensions with your fingertips.
2x shampoos is best. Rinse well.
Condition your extensions from mid lengths to ends. Be sure to rinse well
to prevent residue from building up on the wefts and inside the beads. Pat hair dry with a towel. Do not rub.

Brushing your hair extensions
It is best to use our HairQueen Ultra Lite Hair Extension Brush.Section your rows of wefts starting from the bottom. Always brush
from the ends working your way up to the roots.

Drying and styling your hair extensions
Add some leave in treatment or argan oil and heat protection spray to towel
dried hair. Brush from tips to roots, separating the sections. You may dry your
hair on a low heat or leave them to air dry. Always use a heat protection spray
when styling with hot tools. Less heat = longer extension life.
Avoid wearing high or tight ponytails in the first week following application.

Swimming
Avoid swimming in chlorine or salt water. If swimming occurs, ensure the
extensions are rinsed immediately. The extensions should then be washed with
your extension shampoo followed by a hydrating mask as soon as possible
afterwards. If swimming, wear hair in a loose plait and do not wet hair if in a
bun/top knot.

Colouring and sleeping
If colouring your extensions is required, this should be done by a professional
only. Bleach, lightening products or high level peroxides should never be used
Only a semi permanent colour to achieve a darker or similar shade.
Never go to sleep with wet hair. Always sleep with hair in a plait or a low pony.

Moisture is key
Hair extensions don't receive the oils from your scalp like your natural hair does.
A good hair treatment is essential to extend their lifespan and keep them
hydrated as possible.
